Not me, Chris Buttars.

Chris Buttars was interviewed for a documentary about Proposition 8 and he made some fairly serious comments about the gay lifestyle and gay activism.

From KSL News:

The comments are audio clips from a an hour-long interview for a documentary on Proposition 8. In them, Buttars says, “Homosexuality will always be a sexual perversion. And you say that around here now, and everybody goes nuts. But I don’t care.”

Referring to gay activists, Buttars says, “They’re mean. They want to talk about being nice. They’re the meanest buggers I have ever seen. …It’s just like the Muslims. Muslims are good people, and their religion is anti-war, but it’s been taken over by the radical side. …They’re probably the greatest threat to America going down I know of.”

I don’t know if the double entendres were intentional or not, but the comments are fairly accurate.

From the Book of Mormon we are taught that as long as the people are righteous, they can either withstand any enemy that comes upon them or that the enemy will not come upon them at all.

America is rapidly becoming wicked enough that we could be led into bondage.  If we are internally weak, this country will collapse under its own weight.

President Boyd K. Packer has commented that the world is growing in wickedness and is not likely to get much better, also that Sodom and Gomorrah was a localized thing wheras the current growth of open and obvious homosexual activity is becoming worldwide.

The family has been under attack for the last 60+ years.

No-fault divorce and the liberalization of divorce laws have contributed to more divorces and the consequent break up of families.  The free love movement led to people not only getting divorces, but finding that marriage is not necesary to live together or to have kids.  The abortion movement has made it seem that there is no need to have children or face the consequences of intercourse.   Advances in treatment of HIV and STD’s have taken away more of the penalties of a promiscuous lifestyle.  The radical gay agenda has now made it a goal to place homosexual couples on the same level as heterosexual couplings and marriages.

The problem is that gay couplings will never be equal to marriage because God has decreed it from the foundation of the world.  The only way to make things equal is to devalue the meaning and importance of marriage.  Marriage existed long before the nations and organizations that are actively working to destroy it.  It has not been enough to merely destoy the traditional family, now the effort is to replace it with an evil counterfeit.

It is true that the radical homosexual agenda is a great risk to the well being of this nation.  It is just one more thing designed to destroy the family and our sense of right and wrong.

Chris Buttars could have been a little more sensitive in his comments and a little more diplomatic about it, but he essentially spoke the uncomfortable truths that many people do not want to hear.

The story was covered in the Deseret News, the Salt Lake Tribune, YouTube, the Associated Press, and if you do a google news search, it has made its way to the UK and to Germany.

There is supposed to be a press conference about what will happen with Chris Buttars in about half an hour.   Some people have called for his resignation, the openly gay members of the Utah Legislature have not called for his resignation because they think having someone like Chris Buttars helps their cause (because he is so crazy, no one would rally to his defense) and that it may make passage of gay friendly bills more likely in the future.

There is at least some speculation that if he does not resign, he will at least be stripped of his committe assignments and several of his duties in the legislature.

Well see in about half an hour.

Comments Welcome

UPDATE:  I should have clarified that Sen. Buttars toughest comments were reserved for gay activists.  I know there are many people who are sensitive to the feelings of our brothers and sisters who have gender confusion or same gender attraction.  I am also sensitive to these concerns.  We should always clarify between those who know they are propogating evil and those who don’t really know better.  Just like in other movements through history, there are the prime movers and shakers who are perfectly aware of what they are doing and the awful impact it will have in the grand scheme of things and then there are the followers who have bought into the idea that they are just doing a good thing to help people out.  It is best to be diplomatic and kind about these things while still telling the truth.
