“If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there.” — Lewis Carrol (the Chesire Cat)

There are a number of people who do not agree with the ideas, principles of TJEd, George Wythe University, and personally attack Oliver DeMille.  They think the whole concept is wrongheaded, based on faulty ideas, lead by a fraud, and perhaps worst of all that the TJEd/GWU movement is a religious one.

Hmph.

Here are just a few of the reasons why I do it.  Bear in mind that it is for sure not for everyone and if you don’t think it is for you then go ahead with whatever is working best for you.  TJEd/GWU is a road less traveled, and probably for a few good reasons that you may or may not agree with.

  • I believe that the founding fathers of this great nation had it right and if they were here today and saw what happened to our country, they would be at least a little disappointed that we have let our liberties go quietly into the night.
  • I believe that we are oppressed in this nation in ways that are hidden from the great masses of men so that no one seems to care.  This would be like asking a fish about water.  We swim in it every day and we have become accustomed to it.  We are allowed enough freedom that we don’t really notice the walls and authority closing in on us.  In a U.S. prison, Television and other distractions are provided in part because entertained prisoners are easier to control.  The U.S. has the best entertainment industry ever.  We have TV, Radio, Movies, Glossy Magazines full of pictures, Cell phones with games, video games for TV, Football, Basketball, Baseball, Hockey, Horse and Dog races, Gambling, Lotteries, iPods, YouTube, MySpace, online videos, porn, nice cars, nice clothes, nice food, heated homes, and so man other things that keep us distracted and happy.  If you are not happy enough, we have pills for you to keep you meeting the expectations society sets for you.
  • I believe that our educational institutions have largely failed us.  We have a great sea of well trained people who don’t know how to think.  People too often are more than happy to let our leaders and others do the thinking for us.
  • I believe that in order to have a different and better society, I need to have a part in making it better and different.
  • I believe that the ability to think independently is a skill that is not used enough.
  • I believe that the two party system is like the Gambino and Coreleone families, and when they are united in something, it is not necessarily good for the people they are supposed to be representing and most likely to be to our great detriment.
  • I am a firm believer that we have long abandoned the constitutional freedoms that made this country great and that the United States is on the way to finally completely squandering the greatness it still has.
  • I believe that Gordon B. Hinckley is correct in his statement about the “singular and remarkable” group (quote #7) that was the Founding Fathers.   This video from a 1997 speech given at BYU captures a similar feeling for what I believe too.  It is difficult to be a leader in today’s world.  The video from 1997 was a call to action, not mere platitudes about the Founding Fathers.  This was a call to prepare for the future and bring forth a new generation of leaders.
  • I believe that the National Center for Constitutional Studies does an excellent job teaching about the history most people want to ignore and more people should get involved.
  • I have yet to find any institution of higher learning that captures all of these ideas nearly so well as GWU and the TJEd movement.
  • I believe that it is absolutely vital to the future well being of our national life that we have a new generation of leaders and a whole society of people who understand what true Constitutional Principles are and how to establish and form a free people with liberty.

I do it because of what the future needs.  We need a restoration of people who know what freedom and liberty is, including the need to take responsibility for self employment or entrepreneurship instead of seeking amusement, entertainment and a false sense of security in the good will of others and our government.

The philosophy of TJEd and GWU is the closest aligned institution that can help me in my personal and family goals.

That is why I do TJEd.
